Questions to Ask Before Participating in a Study

Deciding to take part in a study is a personal choice, and it is completely normal to have questions. Asking them up front helps you feel confident about what you are agreeing to.

Start with the basics: What is the study about? How long does it last? How many visits, calls or check-ins are involved, and where do they take place?

Next, ask about your time and compensation. How much is offered, and when is it paid? Are travel or parking costs covered? Knowing this helps you plan around your schedule.

It is also worth asking how your information is handled. Who can see your details, how are they stored, and will your phone number or email be shared? You deserve clear answers.

Finally, remember that participation is voluntary. Ask what happens if you decide to stop early. A good study team will welcome your questions and give you the time you need to decide.
